More color...

'Mocha' Brown Master: two coats today.

I can hardly believe that seven days ago Marshall and I began painting 301 Grand Avenue.  Two coats of color adorn all of the rooms except the kitchen, which took longer to dry due to the satin finish.  It was a fine day to stay indoors and paint as the much-needed rain fell continuously, and I was overjoyed that the basement remained dry below us.

Tracy and I knew this was the right color the moment that we read the name: 'Rain'.  Hopefully I'll get to meet Rain Readling this week.

Weekend painting

Saturday I painted the living room in a light brown color.  It is lighter than I anticipated; but I think that it works well with the den and hallway colors.

It's starting to actually feel like a home in here.

Color!

If human painters are replaced with machines in the future, they will be cloned from the amazing Marshall Washburne.
Tracy and I chose 'greyish' for the hallways.

It's a wrap for week one!  Millie kicked off her heels in the kitchen, and Tracy showed up with a couple of beers.  Steve even came over.  The hallways, the study, and the den are completely painted.  I can't believe what we've accomplished in five days.  All of the trim is painted with the exception of the windows and baseboards.

Painting

Marshall Washburne has been lending his expertise to the painting portion of our renovation.  It's been fun and insightful working with him this week.

The entire house was primed in one, eight-hour period.  This feat was accomplished due to Marshall's prowess with this  paint sprayer.

I removed most of the fixtures in the bathroom; I hadn't noticed that the cabinet had a dixie cup holder on the side.

It's great to see paint on the sheet rock; even if it's only white.

Shelves

Steve's been putting up shelves throughout the house.  Here's a few examples:

Master Bedroom: I hate to tell Steve, but this isn't nearly enough shelf space for all of Tracy's shoes.

Linen closet: the little door beneath the bottom shelf is the old access panel for the shower piping.  Tracy and I decided to keep it.

Pantry

Kitchen Cabinets

Our kitchen cabinets are now installed.

Tracy did a great job selecting the hardware.

Day Off

View from my hotel balcony

So I had a day off in Vegas yesterday, but I simply played tennis and went to bed.  We're playing the Pearl tonight at one of the Palms Casinos.  I've been wandering around the betting floor observing folks...nobody looks like winners.

Trim!

HomeQuest is putting up the trim this week.
